Cookie Policy

Last updated: 30 July 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how SoundsGood ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies (including browser local storage and session storage) when you visit our application. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners.

We also use browser storage technologies (localStorage and sessionStorage), which are legally treated the same as cookies under EU ePrivacy Directive. These technologies store data directly in your browser and require your consent before use.

3. How We Use Cookies and Storage

We use strictly necessary cookies for consent and authentication, includinggdpr_consent for your consent preference,sg_guest for legacy guest data,sg_refresh for secure sign-in sessions, and sg_session so the app can check whether a signed-in session may exist. Browser local storage is used after consent for preferences such as language and display settings. Rewarded advertising is retired and the product does not request third-party ads.

Important: The gdpr_consent cookie is exempt from consent requirements under ePrivacy Directive because it is "strictly necessary" for the consent mechanism itself. We need it to remember whether you've given consent - otherwise we'd need consent to check if we have consent (a legal paradox).

4. Types of Storage We Use

4.1 Strictly Necessary Storage

These are essential for the application to function and cannot be disabled if you want to use our Service.

4.2 Functional Storage

5. Third-Party Services

Our Service integrates with the following providers. Rewarded advertising is retired.

  • Google Places API: When you search for destinations, Google may set cookies according to their own cookie policy. See: Google Cookie Policy
  • Advertising: Rewarded advertising has been retired. The product does not request third-party ads.

6. Your Consent and Choices

6.1 How We Obtain Consent

When you first visit SoundsGood, you will see a cookie consent banner asking for your permission to store optional data in your browser. Rejecting optional storage does not affect your subscription access. Checkout is required to use the planner.

6.2 How to Manage Your Preferences

You can manage your cookie preferences in several ways:

  • Change Consent: Click the "Cookie Settings" link in the landing, planner, or application footer to change your preferences or withdraw consent
  • Global Privacy Control: If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, SoundsGood treats it as an advertising opt-out
  • Browser Settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete localStorage data through privacy settings
  • Clear Data: You can manually clear browser storage and cookies at any time

Important: Clearing site cookies logs you out. Clearing localStorage removes optional preferences, but authentication tokens are not stored in localStorage.
